Dr. Sean’s Diary reviews Prime Minister Infinity – U.K. for 2017

An excerpt from a new review of Prime Minister Infinity – U.K. for 2017 at Dr. Sean’s Diary:

As in real world the wheels came off the Tory campaign towards the end with a series of scandals and bad media stories (the game doesn’t exactly specific about what – expenses, dementia tax?) and I started to put things around. The North and Wales finally swung back to Labour, but my forays across the border to stick it to the Scots Nats (how I tried and tried to win back Glasgow Central as a trophy seat) proved feeble.  Central London, however, stayed solidly red without me (or a virtual John McDonald) ever setting foot there.

President Infinity next release sneak-peek, Windows and Mac

Feedback is welcome! I am especially interested in fixing any bugs, especially for the Mac version.

Major features since previous official release:

  • direct popular vote feature (game engine can now do gubernatorial, senatorial, mayoral, referenda, and so on, elections –  more info here)
  • Main Screen > can view popular vote totals
  • added United States – 2004 – Beta campaign
  • large number of updates to the Editor
  • can import user-designed campaigns with a click
  • independent candidates no longer required to have primaries

If direct popular vote is selected for a campaign in the Editor, computer player strategy is not updated (computer players still think regions are winner-take-all).

You can download it here for Windows, here for Mac.

Again, feedback welcome!

Features since the previous official version here.

Features list since the previous sneak-peek:

  • Main Screen > momentum viewing mode > no longer shows ‘MMT’ after given momentum number
  • if non-aggression pact, news story
  • if non-aggression pact, popup notifying, if not message added to alerts section of notes
  • Editor > Leaders > significantly sped up
  • Non-aggression pacts now show on Player Info Screen, include turns left in pact
  • Editor > Leaders > Home > can now search for region
  • Editor > Leaders > Surrogates > Home > can now search for region
  • Editor > Leaders > Surrogates > Barnstorming Bonuses > can now search for region
  • Editor > Leaders > new > fixed bug > removed “Add new leader as potential vice-leader?”
  • Editor > Regions > Parties > added listbox that summarizes relevant general election info
  • Editor > Regions > Parties > can click on party in listbox to go to that party
  • Main Screen > fixed bug where couldn’t spacebar to click Done button after a turn
  • Editor > Events > Outcomes > fixed bug if changed from attribute issue to position issue, where wouldn’t update to relevant effect values for new issue type
  • Editor > Issues > can see all issue position descriptions at once, can click on any one to select
  • Editor > Issues > issue lists now sorted alphabetically

President Infinity next release sneak-peek, Windows only

This will most likely be the final sneak-peek before the next official President Infinity release. It continues to tidy up issues and fix bugs related direct pop. vote, among other things.

The two-round option is available in the Editor, but is not enabled in the game. Also, if direct popular vote is selected for a campaign in the Editor, computer player strategy is not updated (computer players still think regions are winner-take-all).

You can download it here.

Note: Windows only at this point. Requires you already have the game installed.

Feedback welcome!

Features list since the previous sneak-peek:

  • 1968 > Endorsers > Sen. Ernest Gruening > surrogate Lisa Murkowski -> Ernest Gruening
  • can no longer view Strategy Screen while in primaries mode if your party has no primaries (fixes bug)
  • if another party’s primaries selected on Main Screen, can now view other party primaries in Strategy Screen
  • chance Vice-Leader makes gaffe if Barnstorming isn’t successful now effected by their Experience
  • fixed bug where name of person making gaffe while barnstorming, regardless of who actually made it, is leader’s
  • gaffes for Leaders and Vice-Leaders now also affected by their Issue Familiarity and Issue Familiarity upgrade
    (chance = (50-energy)*2 + (3-experience)*10 + (3-(issue familiarity+(issue familiarity upgrade/200))*10)

  • Main Screen > primaries > fixed bug where would show days until primaries with party where no primaries (nomination type set to ‘none’)
  • Main Screen > direct pop. vote > primaries > fixed bug where delegates option for primaries gone from drop-down box

President Infinity 2018 expansion pack possibilities

Hi everyone,

With President Infinity’s new direct popular vote feature soon to be made official, I am considering an official 2018 expansion pack that would cover certain individual campaigns for Senate, Governor, House, Mayoral, and even referendum campaigns.

This is your chance to give feedback before a decision is made. Any feedback is welcome, but in particular

  1. Would you be interested in such an expansion pack for President Infinity?
  2. Would you be willing to support the creation of it if we launched a KickStarter (or other crowd-funding) campaign?
  3. Which campaigns would you be most interested in? Any campaigns on your radar right now?
