I don’t know much about Canadian politics, but is Arts and Culture a big issue? I wish it had more focus in the US.
May we get a ETA for Canada 2019?
@TLK,
Goal is initial release by early next week.
@Jonathan,
It’s a fairly big deal. There are laws on minimum Canadian content on television and radio. The Canadian Council for the Arts issues a significant number of grants. The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation is important for a lot of people. And there was recently a large amount of funding (mostly in the form of tax credits) announced for Canadian news media companies.
Nice! Looking forward to it
Added issue Quebec Sovereignty.
I’d keep Senate reform. But other than that the issues look good. I’d consider adding Same-Sex marriage as the liberals are using Scheer’s vote in 2005 against him, even though Scheer has stated he’d respect the law as it is today.
@TLK,
Ya, might make more sense to have a broader issue (LGBTQI2S+?) and place both SSM, pride parades, transgender, and perhaps some other things, in that issue. SSM really isn’t an issue in Canada except for Scheer’s possible views on it, which I suppose is an issue, but in game terms this might be something like Attack > Scheer > Leadership or Integrity.
Another thing I’d add is have the NDP and Conservatives at a bad relationship because Jagmeet Singh, leader of the NDP has stated that the NDP will not consider a coalition or minority government with the Conservatives.
@TLK, Conservatives are currently at ‘Bad’ with every party, except the BQ.
Good to know!
Good luck with the update!
If I have any other suggestions I’ll be sure to post them.
@TLK,
Given the Liberals did Senate Reform at the beginning of their term, what do you think the big issues are re that issue?
I would say that this could be based on the appointments. There is an article I read that the liberal appointments were partisan while JT had stated that he’d post non-partisans to the Senate.
I’ll provide the link to the article.
https://www.theglobeandmail.com/politics/article-pmo-confirms-use-partisan-database-liberalist-to-vet-prospective/
So the issue could be based on the partisanship of the Senate appointments in the future.
I would remove the “Minimum Wage” issue only because it’s a provincial matter, not a federal one. besides that, the rest looks great
The SNC-Lavalin Scandal is a HUGE issue in this election. Liberals have been hit hard in the polls on “Ethics”, and “Corruption”.
Also, “Broken Promises” – Liberals said they would balance the budget in 2019 and instead ran a 81 billion dollar deficit. Also failed on electoral reform (was supposed to bring in proportional representation, and lied…
Also “International Affairs, and TRADE” are big. China has really hurt Canada by cutting us off with Canola, Pork etc trade due to Trudeau’s bungle on handling the Meng affair.
Also, trudeau is getting hit by being called a “Fake Feminist” – Groping allegation from his past, ejecting female MPs from caucus (Philpott, Wilson-Raybould), there was a female floor crossing of one MP from Aurora (Liberal to Con), and another MP quit (Chavannes) because Trudeau was bullying her….
@Luke re minimum wage, NDP are proposing federal standards for minimum wage.
The Greens are also.
@Jason,
“Also, “Broken Promises” – Liberals said they would balance the budget in 2019 and instead ran a 81 billion dollar deficit. Also failed on electoral reform (was supposed to bring in proportional representation, and lied…”
Ya, Budget and Deficit and Electoral Reform are both currently issues. A more general ‘Broken Promises’ kind of issue might be better understood in game terms as Attack > Liberals > Integrity.
