President Infinity Alpha release v. 1.0.6

President Infinity Alpha v. 1.0.6 for Windows and Mac has been released!

Note: an Alpha release is a pre-Beta release, for people wishing to test the product. It is not complete. See notes below. This version will not overwrite your existing official release install, so you can test the Alpha release while still playing your previously installed official release.

Version Alpha 1.0.6 adds

  • Mac > Main Screen > fixed glitch where map colours and flags not displayed
  • Election Screen (not fully featured yet)
  • Ads Screen > fixed bug where could only run first ad

I am not looking for feedback on the game unless it relates to core game functionality (basic things you can’t do in the game, crashing, bugs, things that obviously don’t look right).

You cannot load user designed campaigns. No save-load. No Editor. It may crash or have other bugs.

Installation instructions:

Mac: download (see below) and double click on the zip file once downloaded. Right click on the extracted app and select New Terminal at Folder. Type in ‘cd Contents/MacOS’, press enter. Then type in ‘chmod +x *’, press enter. Then run the app.

Windows: download (see below) the zip file > right-click > Extract all > select location for extracted folder. Once it extracts, run the President Infinity file in the extracted folder.

Windows playing notes: Use Alt + Tab to switch back to your other apps when in the game. If it hangs, use Ctrl + Alt + Del > Task Manager > Processes > Apps > Infinity > right-click > End task.

If you are a President Infinity owner on subscription (or if you purchased President Infinity within the last year), you are eligible for this upgrade (if not, you can add a subscription here).

This is a comprehensive update.

You can download this release by requesting a download at the link below. After entering your e-mail, click the link to the web page. The Alpha will be listed under ‘sneak-peek’.

  1. The source code for Election Night was a beast, almost 4,000 lines of code. The Alpha’s Election Night Screen isn’t fully implemented, but you should be able to run through an election night no problem.

The next update will probably be classified as a Beta.

  2. @Pang,

To confirm, you can see the campaign images and text for the Select Campaign and Select Leader screens?

  3. @Pang,

Ok, looks like there’s some error occurring on full campaign load. You aren’t getting any error messages, correct?

  4. @Pang,

Ok, this might have something to do with Windows 7. If anyone else uses Windows 7 here, can they say whether it works?

  5. @anthony_270admin,

Or maybe with a missing lib on my computer ?
Does the game need any dependencies ?

  6. @Pang,

For Windows 7, it requires SP1+. So if you aren’t up to date with Windows 7, that might be a problem. Also, are you running it as an Administrator? I doubt it’s the case, but if not it’s possible that might be causing a problem.

  7. @anthony_270admin,

Windows 7 Pro x64 SP1 up to date, and running it as an Administrator does not change anything…

    Thank you !

  8. @Pang,

Ok, waiting to see if someone else using Windows 7 (or any operating system) is encountering the same problem.

  9. Windows 10 on the 2020 campaign, first time trying it, I get stuck on September 6th. When I try to advance to the next day it raises money and increases that, but nothing else happens.

  10. Tried it again and this time I was able to get past September 6th, but this time none of the polling was changing week to week and I was only able to use the leader no matter how many times I tried to select the running mate (yes the running mate was displayed in the box after I tried to select them, but it would only move and utilize the leader)

  11. @Aaron,

Ok, let me know if you encounter this problem with 1.0.7. I had a similar problem where the game was getting stuck on a day, which was fixed for 1.0.7.
