President Infinity 2021 – v. 1.0

Where we’re going from here.

  1. Replace polling system (adds new game play, solves save-load issues)
  2. Continue expanding Editor capabilities
  3. Add graphs

President Infinity 2021 v. 1.0 for Windows and Mac has been released!

This release replaces Favorability with a percentages-based voter movement system, which makes turn processing faster and save-load faster. It also adds a new Start Screen graphic, and fixes several bugs (including the leader and vice-leader % bonuses bug).

You can now ‘add a game‘ for President Infinity 2021! (Note that if you’re already on subscription and a President Infinity owner, you are covered for President Infinity 2021 until your subscription expires.)

Note: if you have campaigns you have made from President Infinity Classic, it is recommended that you back these up first. Although there should be no problems loading and playing them, this simply errs on the side of caution. If the campaign formatting is unknown, the campaign will be re-written to disk using the new formatting without backing up the original version. If a campaign XML file’s syntax has to be updated, it will backup automatically, however.

See notes below. This version will not overwrite your existing Classic (3.1.1j) release install (if applicable), so you can play the new official version while still playing your previously installed Classic version.

Version 2021.1.0 adds

  • Version numbering changed to year-based
  • new Start Screen graphic
  • 2020 > Endorsers > Mike Lee -> Senior Senator from Utah, Mitt Romney -> Junior Senator from Utah
  • Ads Screen > Create Ad > default ad is now same as in PI Classic (for 2020, default is Television Ad)
  • Green Party > default leader > Howie Hawkins
  • Libertarian Party > VPs > added Spike Cohen, set as default
  • Green Party > VPs > added Angela Walker, set as default
  • removed Favorability, replaced with Voting Blocs-based percentage system
  • turn processing significantly faster
  • save-load significantly faster
  • Offers Screen > fixed bug where changing party selected didn’t update leader making offer to
  • Main Screen > fixed bug where first click on region in map would cause Electoral Vote Info Screen to open
  • Leader and Vice-Leader bonuses fixed

Limited Editor. Save-load is considered an experimental feature right now, and might not work if you’ve already played a large number of days after a primaries start.

  1. When I loaded in to my first two campaigns (default 2016 election) only the top candidate in each party (Trump and Clinton) are viewable in the platform screen. I’m playing as another GOP candidate but cannot see my own platform.

If I go to offer screen, I can only make offers to the first candidate in each party no other name appears in the drop down.

I’m on Windows 10. (And FYI I loaded in to the 2020 campaign and it was working fine so I’m guessing it is something to do with the 2016 scenario?)

I am interested to play this when it gets working, because it concerns me moving away from favorability back to momentum based changes. I recall back post-2016 the big push for favorability was when momentum impacted % what happened was all 20 GOP candidates + Hillary’s dem opponents would attack her and so by the end of the primaries GOP would be up in almost every state because Hillary’s negative momentum hurt the dems. Hope we have not gone back to the point that you could play primaries or general election competitively but not both in the same campaign.

  2. It’s saying the developer of this app needs to update it to work with this version of macOS. Contact the developer for more information.

  3. It’s also saying “President Infinity 2021” is damaged and can’t be opened. You should move it to the Trash.

  4. @Christopher, can you try downloading it with Safari instead? Then follow the instructions above for installation. Please let me know if that works – I’ve had multiple reports of the download not working for some reason, one person said it worked when using Safari instead.

  5. I am also having the same problem using MacOS on Google Chrome and Safari. Wish I could play the game.

  6. Hi everyone,

I am trying to recreate the problem with the download for Mac. I was unable to recreate it on Big Sur, so am updating to the latest version to see if that is part of the problem. I will post a note once I think this is fixed.

  7. @Tanner,

I’m unable to recreate the issue with platforms. Can you start again and see if it happens in 2016 for you?

  8. Sorry I’ve been away from the game a while and have not kept up with versions lately.
I see a Classic 2.8.2, 2.9.2, 3.1.1j, and just plain “President Infinity (Windows)”. Is 3.1.x the updated interface version, and 2.x the classic interface and now the un-numbered one is the 2021 version?

  9. Why when we install 2021 version 1 it says 3.1.1 on the load screen? Is 3.1.1 now the classic and the new interface something else?? It would be helpful I think if you gave a versions history (just numbers) for the classic interface, new interface (which I’m still not fond of), and the new numbering system? It just seems all jumbled.

  10. I just bought this and it doesn’t work right. I cannot see anything on the strategy page, the endorsement page doesn’t show pertinent information and even the event page glitched out. I have seen this played on youtube, so I know how it should work. Is there a way to revert to an older version that works properly?

  11. @Riley, Richard, Toby,

This is because the app hasn’t been certified by Apple. The company has just become Apple certified, and the remaining step is to get the app certified – I am currently doing that.

  12. @Christopher,

The app is now Apple certified, if that’s what you’re asking. Otherwise, any updates will be announced on the blog.

  13. Hi there! Super happy to see that there is an update! So which code will I want to download for this newest version? Classic v. 2.8.2, 3.1.1j, or the one without a code connected to it? Thank you!

  14. For the 2004 and 2008 scenarios, I can’t toggle between the primary and general election. It’s not an issue for the 2020, 2016, or 2012 scenarios.

  15. Hello Anthony,

I’m having a problem with my newest scenarios. They simply don’t work. The game asks me to have a back up file and I click yes, but nothing happens. This is happening for a time now. What can I do with my new scenarios if they don’t work with the last version of the game?

    Thank you.

  16. Hi Anthony, I have updated my game to the newest version. I was trying to play some user created campaigns, but the user who made the scenerio says that it is only compatible for the classic version of the game. Any time I try to start up the game is comes up with a error message saying ‘access denied’. Is there any way I can download the classic version of the game?

  17. Hey @anthony_270admin. Is the game compatible with MacBooks with M1 chips and not IntelCore ones? Thanks in advance
