I discovered the reason why my primaries in the 2020 campaign would crash. People who were unlisted in the list.txt file would crash it. So I re-added all the people in the republican primaries (Walsh/Weld in South Carolina) and democratic primaries (Bloomberg in New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina. Patrick in Alabama and Arkansas and it worked after that.
Glad this fix includes a fix though.
It was the political units.txt file.
One thing I noticed is that the 2018 Senate Scenario does no work at all. One question also is can you edit percentages yet in the editor in the newest release?
@Berg2036,
Just tried PI’s 2018 Senate campaign and it started up fine. Can you tell me your starting options, and make sure to start it on a clean app start?
%s can be edited through a spreadsheet option currently. In-Editor option will be added.
This new update is very stable. Now I just have to master the election winning now 🙂
@Daniel Delvecchio
I’m glad you fixed yours. My user-created scenario (I downloaded the 2024 crossroads scenario) is still crashing. Couldn’t find anyone in the primaries in the states where my game would crash (always Iowa) but now I can’t even loading the game without the “stack overload” error just for opening the political units file.
I’m glad the fix worked for some folks, but the new 1.8d unfortunately didn’t fix the primary issues I’ve been having.
@Anthony I sent you a follow up email.
Midterm prediction contest? Winner gets earliest early access? lol
@Chris,
Reward is bragging rights. 😉 I’ve set up a thread on the forum.

@Tyler,
If you link to the campaign that isn’t working with specific instructions for starting options, I can try to replicate the problem.
It does not appear that the Republican primary debates ever work. I am using version 1.8 currently. Also think it would be better if candidate percentages were calculated as a percentage of total voters. Meaning all candidates plus undecideds would add up to 100%.
@Jason,
Thanks for this feedback – noted to attempt to replicate the bug.
@Anthony_270,
Thanks for the reply, sorry for the late feedback. Here’s what I had:
Starting “declared” for Democrats: Harris, Buttigieg, Brown, Abrams, Booker, Inslee
Starting “declared” for Republicans: Trump, DeSantis, Haley, Cruz, Cotton, Cheney, Suarez, Hogan
This is the campaign:
